Soil Stabilization Driller/Supervisor

As an HGS employee, you will be based in Auckland but get to travel around New Zealand working on our various soil stabilization, grouting or foundation projects. You’ll be learning from world leaders based in the USA and Canada. We are looking for dedicated and hard workers focused on safety, quality and production and help us produce a quality product to keep our customers happy.

 

What we do:

  • We are a leading Geohazard design build repair specialist contractor. We stabilize slips and rockfall hazards to protect people and property from the dangers of Geohazards.
  • We operate a fleet of modern equipment and undertake repairs using industry best practice and leading technologies.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading by example as an expert in everything we do.
  • Managing a crew of up to 5 staff.
  • Planning and executing the day to day operation of the site.
  • Ensure that all staff are kept safe and abide with our safety plans and policies.
  • Responsible for quality control of drilling, grouting, facing and wall construction.
  • Co-ordinating site operations to ensure we achieve our production targets.
  • Installing soil nails with an excavator and a John Henri Drill.
  • Understand and train on how to change drill steel and mix grout.
  • Hanging reinforcing mesh, geotechnical mesh or building GCS walls.
  • Maintain a clean and organized construction site.
  • Operate construction equipment such as excavator, all terrain      forklifts, EWP’s, skid steers, and front-end loaders.

 

Qualifications/Traits

  • Demonstrate that you understand our culture      and core values

  • Soil nailing experience preferred but some      form of retaining wall construction, grouting or drilling experience is      required.
  • Be able to operate a medium size excavator.
  • NZ drivers Licence with WTR endorsements.

Soil Stabilization Technician

You’ll be learning from world leaders based in the USA and Canada. The only thing you need to do is work safely, work hard and help us produce a quality product to keep our customers happy.

 

What we do:

  • We stabilize slips and rockfall hazards to make our roads and properties safer.
  • We use excavator or trailer mounted drill rigs to install steel rods (nails) into rock or soil and grout them into position.
  • We finish off the face with shotcrete, steel mesh or a Geosynthetic Confined Soil (GCS) wall to reclaim eroded faces.

 

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll start at the beginning. With training and a dedication to be the best, you’ll become an expert at:

  • Helping setup the job and unloading equipment.
  • Mixing and pumping grout for the nails
  • Hanging reinforcing mesh, geotechnical mesh or building GCS walls.
  • Packing up and getting ready for the next project.
  • Changing drill steel for the drill rig
  • Operate rock drills.
  • Operate construction equipment such as excavator, all terrain      forklifts, EWP’s, skid steers, and front-end loaders.
  • Maintain a clean and organized construction site.
  • Work off ropes (if you’re not afraid of heights)

 

Qualifications/Traits

  • A desire to help others and be the best at it.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Any prior retaining wall construction,      grouting or drilling experience OR
  • Prior construction industry experience as a      carpenter for example OR
  • Prior concrete experience such as a      concrete finisher/form builder or shotcrete experience.
  • NZ drivers licence and be able to get yourself      to work. WTR endorsements would be beneficial.

Trainee Machine Operators

We are currently seeking enthusiastic people to learn and grow within our company based in Silverdale. Most of our work is based in the Silverdale and North Shore region. You must have reliable transport.

The position involves labouring/operating heavy machinery under an on-going training program and is available for an immediate start.

The successful applicant will need to have practical ability, be physically fit, and must be willing to work unconventional hours and travel away occasionally.

Heavy Plant Fitter/Welder

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Plant Fitter/Welder for our engineering workshop based in Silverdale maintaining heavy road construction vehicles, geotechnical equipment and trucks.

This role would suit an experienced Fitter with a strong background in Heavy Plant Maintenance and welding. 

It is generally workshop based but there will be requirement for the successful applicant to work on site.

You will also be required to work regular overtime.

The following skills and expertise are required:

• Competent fitter and welder 

• Have the ability to hold or pass Welding Tickets

• Able to work in a team or individually

• Self-motivated and energetic, with a positive attitude

• Ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility
